For those that don’t know what sashing is, it’s the fabric between the quilt blocks. I don’t know why, but I always have the hardest time getting my sashing cut square. One (or both) sides are usually wonky. But, you can’t tell once it’s sewn on.
I went out to my moms late Thursday night and got to work loading it on to the HQ. Everytime I load a quilt I have to re-teach myself how it’s done. So, we took pictures and i’ll be making a tutorial for next time.
I really wanted to do circles (or bubbles) for the quilting, but I couldn’t quite figure out a fast enough way to do it (and I hate using patterns, I like to freehand quilt) so I jus went with my usual swirls.
And here’s the quilt all quilted! I like the colors much better now that the white sashing and borders are on. I’m so excited to have a quilt all for myself! I usually make quilts for everyone else.
And here’s the back. I had a little of the fabric left over and just need a little bit more for the backing, so here’s what I came up with. I love a pieced back – it just adds so much more interest!
Now all I have to do is add the binding, and it will truly be a finished quilt!
