This Neptune quilt by @sewdanasew is a few quilting jobs back now. (I have gotten so bad about being on here and sharing client quilts. I need more hours in the day.) Dana requested something custom and I came up with a simple, semi-custom design that played off the piecing, and wasn't too dense. We used wool batting, so there was a nice poof to the quilting. #sometimescrafterlongarmquilting

Time to share @duringquiettime Handkerchief Garden

Time to share @duringquiettime Handkerchief Garden quilt. This past week she shared about it, so I wanted to be sure to post a few more photos here for you to see the completed piece. Her quilt is composed of blocks from her book Petal + Stem, and also from her Autumnal Bouquet pattern bundle. Amy likes dense quilting, so we went with half-inch grid in the background and, for the most part, half-inch spacing on the piecing. It was an intense quilting job.

When I do something like this I utilize the Statler (computer) to set up each open space and quilt the lines. I'm sure there's quilters out there that will say it goes fast with a ruler, and that might be true for some, but the accuracy in quilting this was important. I knew with such a tight quilting, and seam lines everywhere, that if things were off it would be noticed, and decided utilizing the computer would be the best option.

I was able to space the lines 1/4-inch on either side of seam lines and then evenly space the lines between. By doing that, if they were slightly off of 1/2-inch, you could never tell because they are evenly distributed in the open space. This is also why I opted to quilt small sections at a time, because fabric shifts and moves and if I went from one side to the other, all in one programming, by the time I got to the other end, all that shifting would result in seam lines off by quite a bit. Nothing is perfect, especially with fabric, but I like for it to be as perfect as possible.

I'm thinking this will just staying a hoop on the wall, but also think it would be a cute wall hanging with some patchwork pieces around it. While I am pretty active on my Stories, I find I go weeks without sharing on my feed. I have been busy over here in the studio, working away on this 1/2-inch grid in the background of @duringquiettime quilt. It's a slow process (for me, anyway) but it's worth it when you see the end product. I'm so pleased with how this is turning out. My thread order from 3 weeks ago finally arrived, so I'll be able to quilt within the shapes now, but I think I'll finish the background grid first. #sometimescrafterlongarmquilting #customquilting #gammillquilting #gammillstatlerstitcher #longarmquilting

I noticed my feed was lacking vibrant color of lat

I noticed my feed was lacking vibrant color of late, with the thick coating of snow in my recent photos, so today is a perfect day to share @mne_textiles colorful Lonestar quilt I quilted for her recently. It was such a lovely punch of color for this drab time of year, and it was so well done for all those bias edges and Y-seams. She did an amazing job on this! This was quilted with the pattern Celtic Sea and we used Poly Select batting with a light blue thread. #sometimescrafterlongarmquilting #longarmquilting #gammillquilting #gammillstatlerstitcher #quiltersdreambatting
