Merry Christmas! Hazel was slightly disappointed t Merry Christmas! Hazel was slightly disappointed there wasn't a puppy under the tree for her, but had so much fun retrieving all the bows and following our housebound chicken around. #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverpuppy #hazelfarmgirl
I've been wanting to do sublimation for a few year I've been wanting to do sublimation for a few years, and almost started at the beginning of 2022, but decided not to. I changed my mind (again) and decided this is something I really wanted to play around with. We'll see where it goes. I decided to try the HTVRont Auto Press for the auto up/down feature. I have issues with arthritis in my hands, and I wanted my mom to be able to use it, too, so I knew a traditional press was not going to be ideal for either of us. I know Cricut has a new auto press, but the price tag is insane for what it is, and I'm not a fan of Cricut as a company. I debated for awhile before deciding to get this, and watched a lot of reviews on YouTube. Overall, I think its going to be a great press for me. I'm new to all of this, but I'll share more as I go, if you're interested. @htvront #autopress #sublimation #htvrontautopress

Freeze drying lemon balm. We had a beautiful volun Freeze drying lemon balm. We had a beautiful volunteer lemon balm so I decided to harvest it for tea. The freeze dryer wasn't busy, so I filled 4 trays. Since it was late afternoon when I started it, I ran it until the next morning. We try and start herbs in the morning so we can be done before bed, but thats not always how life goes. #homesteading #freezedrying #lemonbalm #herbaltea #dryingherbs #herbs #preserving #sometimescrafterfarm

This is my general process when I finish and quilt This is my general process when I finish and quilt and pull it off the frame. Obviously it's a good hour of work, it's deceptive with Reels just how long something really takes. I spend a lot of time rollering and taking photos, but chooped that all down. Unfortunately, I used my Canon camera and forgot to turn it vertical for Reels. This whole you-must-do-Reels and it-has-to-be-vertical thing bugs me. I wasn't sure if I should rotate it horizontal or leave it as-is. As-is won out.
.
In most cases I do a basting stich 1-inch from the edge of the quilt top on the batting, and that's what I trim next to when it comes off the frame. It makes the quilt a little easier to work with when it comes time to square and bind it, and also gives the option of filling your binding with a bit of batting, should that be my client's preference. At any rate, having all the excess backing trimmed away makes a difference when it comes to finishing it off. It's just a little easier to wrangle.
