First swim for this years ducklings. Watching them First swim for this years ducklings. Watching them swim is always the biggest joy in my day. You can't help but smile and love how happy this one little thing makes them. These four are very skittish, more so than past years. I'm not sure why. The little black capped one is another French girl (a Magpie duck). Our Magpies all get French names, this one is Antoinette (our others are Genevieve and Babette). We call them our [bitchy little] French girls because they look like they have little berets on, as well as some serious attitude. This Magpie happens to be very sweet and not as afraid of us as the others. The darker duckling is a Blue Swedish. We were suppose to get a Golden 300, but they didn't get enough shipped for the orders so we decided to pick up another duck. She is very skittish. I think she might be about a week older, too. Which could explain why she's more afraid. She doesn't have a name yet. The other two are Welsh Harlequins. I have been trying to find this breed since I first got ducks. I was so excited to be able to find them this year. They will be Harley and Quinn, because naming all our birds gets to be tedious and hard to remember names so I'm going for simplicity this year. We do however name them all, because they have distinct personalities and it's like a duck soap opera out there, so they need names for their stories. #ducks #ducklings #magpieduck #magpieducks #blueswedishduck #welshharlequin #welshharlequinducks #ducksofinstagram #ducksswimming
If you've ever wondered if a Gammill Statler can s If you've ever wondered if a Gammill Statler can stitch through two layers of thick felt and an Ikea roller shade, the answer is yes! I've been working on some fun projects for a local who volunteered at a grade school. This is the project idea they came up with, photo booth backdrops. I knew when she emailed there weren't going to be many longarmers that would say yes to a project like this, and I couldn't image doing this on a domestic machine, so as long as she was okay to work with my slow quilting schedule, I was game. I love working on different projects and having to think and plan things through more, it keeps it interesting! I kept the designs larger/more open and slowed down my stitch speed. I also bumped up to a size 18 needle once I got to the double lay of felt. #gammillquilting #gammillstatlerstitcher #ikeahack #customquilting #sometimescrafterlongarmquilting
My everyday is all about Mabel right now. Constant My everyday is all about Mabel right now. Constant potty trips, no sleep, accidents, feeding multiple times a day, barking in her kennel for 20 mins while I shower...it reminds me while I had one kid. There's a reason puppies are so cute. Hazel is 10 months old now, and Mabel is 10 weeks. I am 100% happy my husband talked me into another puppy. #goldenretrieversofinstagram #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverpuppy
Obviously Hazel loves being a big sister. Obviously Hazel loves being a big sister.
If your house isn't full of animal hair is it even If your house isn't full of animal hair is it even a home? We added another furry family member and as you can see Hazel is quite all right with it. As per our usual, we're still waiting for the right name, so she's just 'baby girl' (sometimes chicken nugget) for now. I've been sharing photos on my stories, and added a highlight, and will be updating @hazelfarmdog to include our new baby. She has the best little mowhawk down her forehead and muzzle.
Merry Christmas! Hazel was slightly disappointed t Merry Christmas! Hazel was slightly disappointed there wasn't a puppy under the tree for her, but had so much fun retrieving all the bows and following our housebound chicken around. #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverpuppy #hazelfarmgirl
