A behind-the-scenes look today. I'm working on some custom designs for a Tula Nova quilt for @lisacrafty This one took me awhile to come up with designs, and now I'm working on digitizing all the sections. I was talking with @thepantoshop_ the other day about how you can't seem to find quilt groupings for custom quilting anymore, and how our computerized longarms are capable of so much more than edge-to-edge quilting. I think it's time to bring back custom quilt design groups for popular quilt tops. I'm hoping this set can be something I release after quilting it.

I needed a fun project today (snow days never feel

I needed a fun project today (snow days never feel very productive), and wanted to do something with my Tulip Sparkle design (it's a panto now if you missed that exciting news). I made a colored version of the pattern, arranged it to fit just so in a square, and printed it on my sublimation printer to put on a tote. I love how it turned out!

When I was looking back through my feed yesterday I realized I am terrible at sharing photos of finished quilts in their entirety. I love to share the details, but somehow never get the whole quilt shared. So today I'm changing that and sharing this repair project in full.

The quilt top itself wasn't anything to write home about, just a simple top someone put together out of various fabric scraps. I'm pretty sure some of it was sheets, and there is a block with a type of corduroy, so clothing was also upcycled into this top. After thrifting and years of storage the mice appear to have gotten to it and I thought it would be a great quilt to repair in a different way. "Portholes" in quilting aren't new, but are a great way to repair a quilt top. It was easy to do, I didn't have to worry about matching fabric or ripping seams, and with the use of my longarm to sew the initial circles it was the best of lazy-repairs. I figure this will be a camping/picnic quilt so i went with fun fabrics for inside the holes to match the theme.

If you missed it, there are a couple of Reels prior to this where I share the progress in repairing. I had fun with this, no worries about screwing anything uo, just a fun no-stress quilting project. I might need to head to the thrift store and see if I can find more repair tops.

I'm so excited about this pattern, not only because I love it so much, but because it's the first design I'm able to offer for sale. I have designed a few things over the years, and had others ask if I sell, and until now the answer has always been no because of the cost of the software. Spent a week quilting the same quilt because I wanted to make some Reels of the process to share, and needed some decent daylight to do it (scarce this time of year in the PNW). Normally this would have been a one day project, but instead it was a week. Filming was the real project.
