I’m a little behind on sharing quilts – but when am I not behind when it comes to blogging. I didn’t want to let anymore time pass without sharing Meredith Hobb’s gorgeous quilt. She designed this and asked me to do some custom quilting on it, which I was more than excited to do.

Cactus Garden Quilt Pattern
I just released my latest quilt pattern last night: Cactus Garden. All those little crown points reminded me of succulents and cactus spikes, and bringing them all together seemed like a garden of cacti. I actually had this about 3/4 of the way done and then set it aside and forgot about it. So here it is, two years later and I finally finished it up. I still love the colors and design as much as when I started it.

Quilting a January Quilt
I quilted this quilt back in December for Melissa Everett. (It’s the January Quilt pattern by Lady Havertine.) This past week she entered this in the Smoky Mountain Quilter’s Quilt Show (with a couple other beauties) and it won Honorable Mention in ‘Large 2 Person Team’ and also won the ‘Modern Quilt Award’. I think it’s well deserved for all of those pieced curves!

Star Bright Star White Quilting
I often forget about quilts I’ve quilted that are meant for publication. From the time I see it until it’s out there for the world to see is usually at least a year, and often longer. As is the case with this beautiful quilt. Rebecca Bryan of Bryan House Quilts contacted me last year to see if I could quilt this for her. It is in the most recent issue of American Patchwork & Quilting that just hit shelves last week and is also the cover quilt. I knew it was coming up as it was spotted in the wild…

HST Tote Bag Pattern
Over the winter I taught several sessions of my tote bag class. It was such a hit that I decided i’d make the pattern available for purchase. I really love this bag and have made it so many times over the years. It goes together quickly and effortlessly. I use mine for shopping and holding knitting projects and the size has always been just perfect for anything I need to go in there. One of things I love most about this bag is it’s use of lightweight muslin as an interlining instead of the typical fusible interfacing. Using muslin keeps…

AGF Stitched // Blithe Quilt
Another year of AGF Stitched has started up! If you aren’t familiar with AGF Stitched, it’s a collaboration between Art Gallery Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop. Each quarter a group of select bloggers makes a set pattern with Art Gallery Fabrics of our choosing, and Fat Quarter Shop puts together a video tutorial for making the quilt. Our first quilt for this year is the Blithe Quilt, which is available as a free download at Fat Quarter Shop.

Binding Perfectly Mitered Corners
I had a couple of people on Instagram ask me about my mitered corners on my quilts, and how I got them to turn out so “perfect”. Perfect is of course in the eye of the beholder, but I do tend to have nicely squared corners on my binding. It comes from years of practice and perfecting my technique. It’s not difficult, or any big secret, so let’s break it down in photos and then you too can love your mitered corners. First off I want to mention how I hold my quilts when i’m working on binding. This is…

Binding // Joining Ends
I was reviewing my binding posts (1, 2, and 3) before my binding class at Modern Domestic last month, as I wanted to direct students there for a refresher after class should they forget a step. I realized that while it’s still relevant, I don’t actually show the method i’m using now to attach the ends of my binding. It’s still the same basic idea, but I now use the Fons & Porter Binding Tool (affiliate link) to help me do it a little more efficiently. After I initially wrote those posts someone mentioned it to me and so I picked one…

AGF Stitched // Locket Quilt
I’m a week late posting my AGF Stitched quilt for the last quarter of 2015. December threw me for a loop, not least of which was because I had a horrible flu that just wouldn’t go away. Despite all of that, I was able to finish the 4th quilt in the AGF Stitched series. It’s the Locket Quilt pattern (a free download) designed to feature Amy Sinibaldi’s new fabric line for Art Gallery Fabrics (which I just love). For my version of the Locket Quilt I used fabrics from April Rhodes Bound fabric line. As i’ve said with the past…
