Quilting

  • Quilting Sea Glass

    Sometimes Crafter April 3, 2017

Good afternoon!  It’s sunny and bright here in the Pacific Northwest today and i’m feeling so productive, so I thought while I had a quilt going in the background i’d take a moment to pop in and show you some photos of Amy Friend’s Sea Glass Quilt I quilted for her last winter.  Its one of many quilts in her new book Improv Paper Piecing.

  • AGF Stitched // Blithe Quilt

    Sometimes Crafter March 7, 2016

Another year of AGF Stitched has started up!  If you aren’t familiar with AGF Stitched, it’s a collaboration between Art Gallery Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop.  Each quarter a group of select bloggers makes a set pattern with Art Gallery Fabrics of our choosing, and Fat Quarter Shop puts together a video tutorial for making the quilt.  Our first quilt for this year is the Blithe Quilt, which is available as a free download at Fat Quarter Shop.

  • AGF Stitched // Locket Quilt

    Sometimes Crafter January 7, 2016

I’m a week late posting my AGF Stitched quilt for the last quarter of 2015.  December threw me for a loop, not least of which was because I had a horrible flu that just wouldn’t go away.  Despite all of that, I was able to finish the 4th quilt in the AGF Stitched series.  It’s the Locket Quilt pattern (a free download) designed to feature Amy Sinibaldi’s new fabric line for Art Gallery Fabrics (which I just love).  For my…

  • Quilted Christmas Tree Skirt

    Sometimes Crafter November 2, 2015

** Modern Christmas Tree Skirt Workshop on December 5th at Modern Domestic!** This has to be one of the most requested patterns i’ve ever had.  Since I first made this tree skirt for a Flickr swap years ago I have gotten many emails requesting a pattern for it.  I always had intentions of put it together, but just never got to it.  I finally decided it needed to be done.  I really wanted to do something outside of the box…

  • AGF Stitched // Welded Quilt

    Sometimes Crafter September 25, 2015

I am so excited to share this quilt with you, I only wish I had the time to quilt it before this post!  I have been out of town for a few weeks, so I had to hurry to get this pieced the last two days, so quilting will be happening this weekend I hope.  The pattern for this round of AGF Stitched with Kimberly is the Welded Quilt by Art Gallery Fabrics.  It’s a very simple quilt to piece,…

  • Painted Basket Quilt

    Sometimes Crafter August 12, 2015

This pattern can now be purchased here! A few weeks ago Art Gallery Fabrics emailed to see if I would be interested in creating something with Katarina Roccella’s new line, Imprint.  I really like Katarina’s designs, but I’m sure you have noticed from my last few quilts, I tend to go for lighter colored fabrics that have very little in the way of saturated color, and Katarina’s fabrics never lack for beautifully saturated colors.  I almost said no because of…

  • AGF Stitched // Fractal Quilt

    Sometimes Crafter July 27, 2015

Once again, I was so pleased to be asked to participate in the AGF Stitched series.  This time around we used the Kites Plus Ruler by Creative Grids to create the Fractal Quilt (this link takes you to the free pattern).  Despite there being quite a few Y-seams, the quilt went together ridiculously fast!  It ended up taking me two days, but only because I got a late start cutting on the first day, otherwise it could easily be made in…

  • Modern Medallion Workbook

    Sometimes Crafter May 14, 2015

When Janice and Beth asked me to submit ideas for their Modern Medallion Workbook they were putting together, I was a little stumped as to what I would do.  I had never seriously thought about making a medallion quilt, let alone designing one.  It was a challenge, and I love challanges.  My life was really hectic at the time, and I wasn’t sure if I could fit it in, but i’m glad they convinced me to send along some sketches. I…

  • Make It Take It // Macaroon Quilt

    Sometimes Crafter April 12, 2015

Sometimes I have the hardest time naming quilts.  I have to give credit for the name of this one to my friend Rachel.  Once she suggested the curved pieces look like Macaroons I thought swirls would be the perfect quilting for between the “cookies”.  I designed this quilt after Krista Hennebury asked me to submit an idea for her book Make It, Take It.  I have known Krista through our blogs for several years now, we had an instant bond over our…
