I just finished quilting this beautiful star quilt that Beca made. This was a custom quilting job – boarders, sashing and blocks were all quilted separately. The fabrics were just beautiful and I especially loved that the “background” fabric was a tiny print. It was such a sweet quilt. I took many photos of it and the quilting. Unfortunately, my SD Card must have a bad sector and almost all of the photos I took are corrupt. So sad. This was one of just a few images on my camera that turned out, but I did manage to take a few photos on my iPhone…

Geometric Quilting
I just had the opportunity to quilt an amazing quilt for a good friend. It is so hard not being able to share the quilt and it’s quilting with you! I am grateful for friends that like my quilting ideas and let me run free with them. This was a beautifully graphical quilt and I loved how the graphical quilting turned out. Even more than that, I love getting to be a small part of something big for a friend.

Longarm Quilting + Things To Know
Sarah at Crinkle Love, who has a naturally lit quilting space to die for, is sharing a post today called – 10 Things Your Longarm Quilter Wants You to Know. Sarah had the idea a few weeks ago to do a post talking about the things a longarm quilter would like for their clients to know before sending in their quilt to be quilted. Of course, we all talk about the important things to remember on our quilting prep pages, but if you don’t truly understand the reasoning behind them, you might not think they are really that important. Sometimes they…

Longarm Quilting
Despite the fact that it’s been quiet here on the blog-front, i’ve actually been quite busy quilting for others. Much of what i’ve been doing lately i’m not able to share, as they have been for future publications as well as for Spring Quilt Market. When the time arrives, I will share fuller pictures of those pieces of work, but for now I thought i’d share a little peek of those quilts, as well as quilts I can share more of. Quilting on two different quilts for a favorite client. But I can’t say who, or for what yet. I will…

Feathers Patterns Now Available!
The Feathers in the Wind Quilt and Feathers Patterns are now available! Both are PDF direct downloads and can be purchased from my online shop or on Etsy. The first is the Feathers in the Wind Quilt pattern which includes the feather paper piecing printouts and instructions for making the quilt top, including cutting and construction diagrams. The pattern has both the Textured feather shown on the quilt top, as well as the Simple feather designed for fast construction, or those less sure of their foundation paper piecing skills. The printouts are shaded to help guide you in fabric placement.…

Quilting The Day Away
It has been cold and snowy here these past few days, but I didn’t mind one bit. I have been thoroughly enjoying quilting on my new machine. It has opened up so many more possibilities for me and i’m so excited to explore them all. I’m really glad to have a quilt waiting in the wings that needed some custom quilting attention. I am so excited to see this one quilted, and it’s such a bummer I have to wait a little while before I can share it all with you. I may not be able to share the whole…

Longarm Quilting Again!
I’ve been waiting years to get a new longarm. I’m so glad that it’s finally here. I’ve been learning how it works and have started to learn AutoSketch so I can design my own patterns for it. The computer is fun and i’m glad to have it, but quilting free-motion is fantastic. It’s so light and smooth running. I went with the biggest model, the 30″, and was a little worried about being able to maneuver it because of it’s size, but there was no need to worry about that. It does have a power assist option so I can…

Collage Mini Quilts
Don’t miss out on the giveaway Modern Sewciety is having for one of my calendars and a set of my PDF sewing patterns! While you’re there, be sure to listen to our chat on the Podcast. + + + Brice and I spent the last week in California visiting family. Because of his alternating kindergarten schedule, and the holiday weekend, we had a week off school (and then one day back for another long weekend). My dad flew us down, and my mom tagged along, and we had such a great time with the family. I love that my parents…

Trucks and Tractors Quilt
Laurie Wisbrun has designed the cutest line of fabrics featuring trucks and tractors. With a little boy in need of a bed quilt I couldn’t say no when Laurie asked if I’d like to play with the new line. They are great prints for a quilt that has large spaces to show them off in. It was one of those lines of fabric that I knew exactly the quilt I wanted to make with it. This quilt is the Crazy Strips pattern from Quilting Happiness. In the book it calls for yardage of two fabrics, but I was really wanting…
