** Modern Christmas Tree Skirt Workshop on December 5th at Modern Domestic!** This has to be one of the most requested patterns i’ve ever had. Since I first made this tree skirt for a Flickr swap years ago I have gotten many emails requesting a pattern for it. I always had intentions of put it together, but just never got to it. I finally decided it needed to be done. I really wanted to do something outside of the box as far as fabric choices went and I immediately thought of Succulence for this tree skirt. Even though the colors…

Quilting Foxes
I quilted this adorable fox quilt back in April for Angela. It is baby size, and was such a fast quilt, that I didn’t even get anything on Instagram of this one. Angela asked for woodgrain quilting, so I sketched out an idea and then free-motion quilted it on. She wanted woodgrain, but not too dense, so the quilt was still soft and snuggly. I think the quilting achieved just that. It was really hard to capture the quilting on the quilt itself, it blended in so well with the background fabric, that I sent along this sketch with Angela…

Modern Maples + Modern Feathers
I was going through my photos of my longarm quilting today and realized there are a lot of quilts that I haven’t shared here yet. I’m not exaggerating when I say “a lot”. I am pretty good about sharing photos on Instagram as I’m working on a quilt, but it’s usually only a sneak peek, and I don’t always share every quilt I work on. I need to be better about that, though. This is my business and how does someone know if they want to hire me for longarm quilting if they can’t see a full range of my…

Quilting A Meadow Quilt
This is going to be a picture heavy post today. More often than not lately it seems i’m doing a lot of “custom” quilting. What that usually entails is a few different designs in different places on the quilt, some quilts more intricate than others. This quilt happened to be my favorite type of custom quilting, the kind where a client says “Do whatever you want! Surprise me!” We talk a little about the density and where they would like designs, but otherwise it’s left up to me what ultimately goes on the quilt. When Oona and I first started…

Improv Diamonds Quilt
I started this quilt two years ago as a baby shower gift. I don’t have a lot of friends from my school days, but Betsy is one i’ve known since she came to our high school as a Freshman. I was a year ahead and a teacher assistant in one of her classes, and it was through that class we became friends. I can’t remember the reason, but I wasn’t able to make her baby shower two years ago, but I figured I should probably get Reid’s quilt done before he turned 2. I reached my goal, and when I…
