Tutorial :: Trapezoid Block
I’m sure there is another more clever name for this June’s block, but if there is, I haven’t a clue. So here is one of my blocks, after lots of trial and error to get it the right size. I don’t usually have issues with that, but something was off with my math the day I originally made this block. Oh well. (Something was off with my photography yesterday, too…I couldn’t get the darn thing in the frame! That’s what happens with a 50mm held above your head.)
It still isn’t quite right, but I’m done with this block. The finished size is 12-1/2” x 11-1/2”…but it needs to be 12-1/2” square…so add some borders onto it to make it the right size. Problem solved.
I’m trying something a little different this time. This block is really very simple. Instead of a photo tutorial, I have the tutorial all drawn up in pictures on the template sheet. I think it is very easy to understand what you will need to do. Please let me know if you have questions. Seam allowances are 1/4”. Click here to follow the link to the PDF document. I’m trying something new, using Google Docs, so please let me know if there are issues accessing the file. There might be problems if too many of you want to access the page. I really need to find a solution for this soon. I suggest printing this out on card stock so you have a nice sturdy template to cut around.
Here is another block in the trial and error phase. My final block isn’t pictured, it was just scrap fabrics…but I’m going to make it into a pillow cover for the shop. And lets not forget our inspiration block, found here. (Block by Jessica of Twin Fibers.)
