I just released my latest quilt pattern last night: Cactus Garden. All those little crown points reminded me of succulents and cactus spikes, and bringing them all together seemed like a garden of cacti. I actually had this about 3/4 of the way done and then set it aside and forgot about it. So here it is, two years later and I finally finished it up. I still love the colors and design as much as when I started it.

AGF Stitched // Blithe Quilt
Another year of AGF Stitched has started up! If you aren’t familiar with AGF Stitched, it’s a collaboration between Art Gallery Fabrics and Fat Quarter Shop. Each quarter a group of select bloggers makes a set pattern with Art Gallery Fabrics of our choosing, and Fat Quarter Shop puts together a video tutorial for making the quilt. Our first quilt for this year is the Blithe Quilt, which is available as a free download at Fat Quarter Shop.

AGF Stitched // Locket Quilt
I’m a week late posting my AGF Stitched quilt for the last quarter of 2015. December threw me for a loop, not least of which was because I had a horrible flu that just wouldn’t go away. Despite all of that, I was able to finish the 4th quilt in the AGF Stitched series. It’s the Locket Quilt pattern (a free download) designed to feature Amy Sinibaldi’s new fabric line for Art Gallery Fabrics (which I just love). For my version of the Locket Quilt I used fabrics from April Rhodes Bound fabric line. As i’ve said with the past…

Painted Basket Quilt
This pattern can now be purchased here! A few weeks ago Art Gallery Fabrics emailed to see if I would be interested in creating something with Katarina Roccella’s new line, Imprint. I really like Katarina’s designs, but I’m sure you have noticed from my last few quilts, I tend to go for lighter colored fabrics that have very little in the way of saturated color, and Katarina’s fabrics never lack for beautifully saturated colors. I almost said no because of my desire to always create things that are light and bright, but then I had a peek at the lookbook…

AGF Stitched // Fractal Quilt
Once again, I was so pleased to be asked to participate in the AGF Stitched series. This time around we used the Kites Plus Ruler by Creative Grids to create the Fractal Quilt (this link takes you to the free pattern). Despite there being quite a few Y-seams, the quilt went together ridiculously fast! It ended up taking me two days, but only because I got a late start cutting on the first day, otherwise it could easily be made in a day. As with the last quilt in the series, I wanted to go with fabrics that were light and…

Make It Take It // Macaroon Quilt
Sometimes I have the hardest time naming quilts. I have to give credit for the name of this one to my friend Rachel. Once she suggested the curved pieces look like Macaroons I thought swirls would be the perfect quilting for between the “cookies”. I designed this quilt after Krista Hennebury asked me to submit an idea for her book Make It, Take It. I have known Krista through our blogs for several years now, we had an instant bond over our background in geology. I had talked with Krista a few times about her desire to write a book geared towards…

Improv Diamonds Quilt
I started this quilt two years ago as a baby shower gift. I don’t have a lot of friends from my school days, but Betsy is one i’ve known since she came to our high school as a Freshman. I was a year ahead and a teacher assistant in one of her classes, and it was through that class we became friends. I can’t remember the reason, but I wasn’t able to make her baby shower two years ago, but I figured I should probably get Reid’s quilt done before he turned 2. I reached my goal, and when I…

AGF Stitched – Birchen Quilt
I had this lengthy post all written up about his quilt, and using the Triangles on a Roll, and how Art Gallery Fabric and Fat Quarter Shop have teamed up to do a video series called AGF Stitched….and then the post decided not to auto save and I lost it all. I really hate when that happens. I’m going to do my best to reconstruct what I said, and ignore the fact that I spent about an hour trying to write that first post and really just want to head into bed now. So, as I was saying, Fat Quarter…

Halloween Quilt Tutorial
{Tutorial found in the post below} Today on the Benartex blog, Sew in Love {with Fabric}, I have a tutorial on how to make this fun Halloween Medallion Quilt. With the use of From Marti Michell’s Kaleido-Ruler, and a few fabulous prints from Benartex, the quilt came together very quickly and remedied my need for a Halloween quilt. With the many interruptions a mom can expect, I made this in two afternoons, but could have easily completed it in a day. I think this pattern was a great opportunity to use a low volume print for the background, instead of…
