Today I have a free quilt pattern for you! What makes this quilt unique is that you use the left over curved pieces from the Points of Interest Quilt in Quilting Happiness to make it. Don’t worry if you haven’t made the Points of Interest quilt (or POI quilt as I like to call it), I included a template to cut your curved print pieces so you can still make this quilt. The blocks are very simple circles constructed from drunkards path blocks. I staggered the placement in the rows to give it some interest, but you could line them…

Freezing Rain Table Runner Pattern
Finally! It’s time to release the Freezing Rain Table Runner pattern. I originally designed this to be a quilt, in different colors than you see here. The original quilt design is called Liquid Sunshine and I hope to get that completed after the quilt pattern that is coming up next. Lupin at Modern Domestic asked if we could turn the idea into a table runner for the holidays and specifically asked for these colors as kind of a modern, winter theme. As it turns out, they worked together beautifully, even with my dislike of burgundy. I designed this table runner…

Travel Sewing Case Add-Ons
It’s my turn today for a Travel Handmade post! As most of you know, I’m teaching a curves class at this years Sewing Summit and never has my travel sewing case been more needed. I decided to make a new one, as my old one has seen many years of use. This is not a new pattern to me, I have made it at least half a dozen times by now, because of how great the pattern is. I’ve made many for gifts and a few for myself. The pattern is by P3 designs and can be found on her…

Fall Stitching Needle Card
I have this small, round side table that I decided needs a round, quilted table topper for the fall. I decorated the other day for fall/Halloween and it looks a little barren in that spot. So I found a great stitchery at The Floss Box (thanks to Amanda H. for the link) and have started stitching when I have a few minutes. I figure this will be the center and I’ll scrappy piece around the sides to make it the right diameter. I’m looking forward to completing this one and sharing it. I love having a vision in my head…

Retro Flowers Quilt Pattern
**TEMPLATES can now be purchased at TCR Engraving on Etsy.** Here it is! The Retro Flowers Quilt! I have been busy working away over here these last few weeks. I was finishing up this quilt that had been sitting on the table and design wall for several months. I had shown this pattern in the drafting phases to a few friends, and it got high marks from everyone, so I thought I should probably get making it. I am so glad that I did! I LOVE this quilt! It is probably one of the only quilts that I knew would…

The Knitting Bag – A Closer Look
I have been patiently waiting for Three Kitchen Fairies blog-aversary to tell you a little more about Amanda’s Knitting Bag so I would have a reason to link to her awesome giveaway (one of the prizes is a copy of the pattern). The idea for this bag originally came about because of my friend Amanda’s birthday. I wanted to make her something and I had this great stitching of the Octo-bunny from Badbird’s website and had to think of a way to incorporate it. Obviously my first thought was to put it on a bag front. But I know Amanda…

Little Cottage Mug Rug
In honor of Erin’s Mug Rug Madness Week I thought I’d post about my mug rug I made last month for the Portland Modern Quilt Guild swap. I forgot all about it until I saw the adorable house mug rug that Erin posted about earlier this week. I initially wasn’t going to do the swap because I just couldn’t think of something that I liked. Then one morning, about 4am when my 2 year old decided to wake up, and I put him back to bed, I was drifting back to sleep and all the sudden had a vision of…

Half Square Triangles
This post originally appeared on Whip-Up.net. Hello Whip-Up readers! It’s so nice to be back in this space posting while Kathreen is away. Today I wanted to share a really great way of making half square triangles (HST) that I recently found online and give you some measurements to help you with making them just the size you need for your own projects. Ahead of me I have a quilt full of half square triangles, and I was not looking forward to the prospect of making all of them in the way i’m use to. Then I remembered having seen this video by…

Bunny Ornament Tutorial
A few of us quilt-y friends decided last month to do an ornament swap. Our deadline to mail was this week and my secret partner got her ornament! We roped Yahaira into choosing our partners for us so none of us would have an idea of what were were getting. Jeni was my swap partner and I was so happy to have the opportunity to spoil her since she spoils all of us! I knew right from the start I wanted to make her a bunny ornament and came up with the idea of doing a small patchwork stuffed one,…
