Cactus Garden Quilt Pattern

July 12, 2016
I just released my latest quilt pattern last night: Cactus Garden.  All those little crown points reminded me of succulents and cactus spikes, and bringing them all together seemed like a garden of cacti.  I actually had this about 3/4 of the way done and then set it aside and forgot about it.  So here it is, two years later and I finally finished it up.  I still love the colors and design as much as when I started...

Quilt It Modern // Riley Blake Solids

July 6, 2016
Riley Blake Fabrics has been hosting a blog tour to get the word out about their new colors in their Confetti and Crayola Color collections.  I was really excited to see all the great colors, since so many of them are colors I look for and have a hard time finding.  I know it seems funny to think I can’t find the solids I need when there are so many out there, but I do. The colors just never seem...

Quilting a January Quilt

June 17, 2016
Sometimes Crafter Quilting // Melissa Everett's January Quilt
I quilted this quilt back in December for Melissa Everett.  (It’s the January Quilt pattern by Lady Havertine.) This past week she entered this in the Smoky Mountain Quilter’s Quilt Show (with a couple other beauties) and it won Honorable Mention in ‘Large 2 Person Team’ and also won the ‘Modern Quilt Award’.  I think it’s well deserved for all of those pieced curves!

Star Bright Star White Quilting

Sometimes Crafter Quilting // Custom Longarm Quliting
I often forget about quilts I’ve quilted that are meant for publication.  From the time I see it until it’s out there for the world to see is usually at least a year, and often longer.  As is the case with this beautiful quilt.  Rebecca Bryan of Bryan House Quilts contacted me last year to see if I could quilt this for her. It is in the most recent issue of American Patchwork & Quilting that just hit shelves...

HST Tote Bag Pattern

June 6, 2016
Over the winter I taught several sessions of my tote bag class.  It was such a hit that I decided i’d make the pattern available for purchase.  I really love this bag and have made it so many times over the years.  It goes together quickly and effortlessly.  I use mine for shopping and holding knitting projects and the size has always been just perfect for anything I need to go in there.  One of things I love most...

My mom requested I make this Swedish Braided bread with apple pie filling for her birthday this year, instead of a cake. It smells delicious and I can't wait to dig in! #birthdaytreat #swedishbraidedbread

I decided to make his ornament this year, and while I set out to make a toilet paper roll ornament, he saw white clay and assumed goose, so I made him Lucy goose. He's quite happy, and so am I. He loves our Lucy goose.

I used oven-bake polymer clay (Michael's brand was what I had on hand), acrylic paint (just the craft variety...again, what I already had on hand), and a glossy glaze (Sculpey, which I don't recommend, its gotten very thin since I last used it, it took way too many coats to be the right thickness). The ornament is about 1.5"h x 1.5"w x 0.5"deep. It was really easy to make, so don't say you can't do it. You can.

I made an ornament for Brice (which I'll share later when it's finished), and then painted these cute little canvases while my paint was out yesterday. This is another quilt quilted for @jenny.l.barrett I felt Sashy was the right amount of modern and traditional for this quilt top. I was having a hard time picking a design for this but kept coming back to this. It's a go-to design for me and I always love it on everything. I think it ended up being pretty perfect for this. #sometimescrafterlongarmquilting
