• Quilting Buzzing Bees

    Sometimes Crafter August 28, 2014

I had the opportunity to quilt one of the sweetest quilts recently.  It was a sampler quilt with so many bright, cheerful fabrics, depicting all the different seasons.  I went searching to see what this quilt is, and it looks to be part of the Quilty Fun Sew Along & Blog Tour for Lori Holt’s book Quilty Fun (affiliate link). As I do with most of my quilting requests, I sent along several quilting ideas that I thought might work for this…

  • Fox Has Cathedral Windows

    Sometimes Crafter July 21, 2014

Another recently quilted top sent in to be quilted.  Callie did an amazing job piecing this Fox Has Spots block of the month quilt.  She went with the Cathedral Window design and I think it worked out quite perfectly for the top.  Even though I mostly use the Statler (computer portion of my Gammill) to quilt the tops, it’s still a lot of work making sure everything rolls straight and lines up correctly.  It’s no easy job with this pattern,…

  • Modern Hexagons

    Sometimes Crafter July 17, 2014

I needed a little crafty break the other day.  Our property keeps me busy this time of year, and then longarm quilting has been keeping me busy when i’m not outside, so I haven’t been terribly creative lately.  Sometimes I just need to sit and mindlessly craft.  Hexagons seemed like the perfect solution.  I spotted this perfectly modern hexagon mini in my Pinterest feed (link in the sidebar) a few weeks ago and just knew I was going to have to…

I’m a huge Doctor Who fan.  I’ve been watching it since I was a little girl and it aired on PBS.  I don’t remember much of the original Doctor Who, but i’ve watched all of the newer ones since they began airing.  I’m actually a season behind right now.  I hate to watch knowing it will end.  I also have a hard time watching, knowing that I will need to do nothing but watch.  There is no working on other…

  • Star Quilt Custom Quilting

    Sometimes Crafter June 23, 2014

I just finished quilting this beautiful star quilt that Beca made. This was a custom quilting job – boarders, sashing and blocks were all quilted separately.  The fabrics were just beautiful and I especially loved that the “background” fabric was a tiny print.  It was such a sweet quilt.  I took many photos of it and the quilting.  Unfortunately, my SD Card must have a bad sector and almost all of the photos I took are corrupt.  So sad.  This was one of just…

  • Geometric Quilting

    Sometimes Crafter June 3, 2014

I just had the opportunity to quilt an amazing quilt for a good friend.  It is so hard not being able to share the quilt and it’s quilting with you!  I am grateful for friends that like my quilting ideas and let me run free with them.  This was a beautifully graphical quilt and I loved how the graphical quilting turned out.  Even more than that, I love getting to be a small part of something big for a friend.

  • Longarm Quilting + Things To Know

    Sometimes Crafter May 21, 2014

Sarah at Crinkle Love, who has a naturally lit quilting space to die for, is sharing a post today called – 10 Things Your Longarm Quilter Wants You to Know.  Sarah had the idea a few weeks ago to do a post talking about the things a longarm quilter would like for their clients to know before sending in their quilt to be quilted.  Of course, we all talk about the important things to remember on our quilting prep pages, but…

  • Longarm Quilting

    Sometimes Crafter May 3, 2014

Despite the fact that it’s been quiet here on the blog-front, i’ve actually been quite busy quilting for others.  Much of what i’ve been doing lately i’m not able to share, as they have been for future publications as well as for Spring Quilt Market.  When the time arrives, I will share fuller pictures of those pieces of work, but for now I thought i’d share a little peek of those quilts, as well as quilts I can share more of.…
